MIRANDA N. PRATHER AT GAITHERSBURG BOOK FESTIVAL
Miranda N. Prather, author of Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, attended The Gaithersburg Book Festival on May 20, 2017 at the Gaithersburg City Hall in Gaithersburg, Maryland. At the event, Prather sold and signed copies for numerous young readers, who loved the bright, colorful pictures of a real-life super horse. Adult fans were brought to tears by the true life story of the special horse. Additionally, Prather donated a copy to the Montgomery County College Learning Library. Currently, Prather is at work on book two in the series and may exhibit again next year with the new book.
Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, published by Shoofly View, tells the life story of a blue-collar racehorse who overcame a devastating illness to survive and inspire thousands around the globe who were facing their own struggles and illnesses. The book features playful writing and delightful pictures, by Kentucky artist Hayley Mullins, that bring the tale of Blue Blue Sea to life. Blue Blue Sea was no American Pharoah, but he became a hero just the same! To learn more and follow Blue Blue Sea's world visit: https://www.facebook.com/BlueBlueSeaOTTB.
Miranda N. Prather was born in Texas and grew up in Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky. The first horse she recalls following was Seattle Slew, who was born the same year she was, but it was Alydar that was her first horse racing love (and Blue Blue Sea’s great-grandsire). During her time in Kentucky, she took horseback riding lessons and owned an off-track Thoroughbred named Beble.
Founded in 2010, the Gaithersburg Book Festival's mission is to foster an interest in reading, writing and literary conversation. The Festival is one of the nation’s top literary events, attracting hundreds of award-winning and best-selling authors, poets and songwriters from across the country to its quaint, park-like setting in the heart of Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
Shoofly View seeks to give authors honest feedback, and if an author presents a well-written, interesting book, the chance at publication. In late 2015, they published Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, their first book. They are currently looking at other book projects and plan an online journal to highlight the best in writing, art and photography.
